Chief Steward
About the role:
Ensure that all kitchen areas, dishes, utensils, and equipment are maintained at the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene while supporting kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and manage a team of stewards in daily operations, ensuring proper execution of cleaning and sanitation duties.
- Train and motivate the stewarding staff to maintain high standards of hygiene, cleanliness, and safety.
- Schedule shifts and manage labor costs while ensuring adequate coverage during peak periods.
- Monitor stock levels of cleaning supplies and chemicals, ensuring timely ordering and proper storage.
- Work closely with the culinary and F&B teams to support smooth operations, especially during high-volume events or special occasions.
Qualifications:
- Proven 2+ experience as a Chief Steward or similar role in a high-volume restaurant, hotel, or beach club.
- Strong knowledge of sanitation and hygiene procedures in a food service setting.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to manage and train a diverse team.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle pressure during busy periods.
- Proficiency in inventory management and basic computer skills for tracking supplies.
- Understanding of local health and safety regulations in Bali.
- Ability to speak English fluently; knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia is a plus.
